September isn’t just another month—it’s officially fashion month and it came with a reset button. The runways flip their calendars, wardrobes get a refresh, and suddenly everyone’s
obsessed with what’s “next.” Think of it as couture’s New Year, the fashion calendar will take us once again from New York to London, Milan and finally Paris, where designers will unveil their
Spring/Summer 2027 collections. September is when style decides who’s in, who’s out, and who’s about to own the season.

And own it we did. Ayra Starr was impossible to ignore at NYFW SS27, especially when she pulled up for Coach and LaQuan Smith. At Coach, she gave us a playful edgy look in a sleek leather skirt and bralette combination, layered with a light cotton shirt for a relaxed contrast. think downtown New York energy filtered through Afrobeats confidence. She kept the accessories firmly in Coach territory, finishing the look with a classic Tabby bag that pulled everything together. Then at LaQuan Smith, she dialed it all the way up: body‑skimming silhouettes, unapologetic glamour, and a vibe that screamed “Sabi Girl goes global.” London Fashion Week kept the momentum rolling. Nigerian designers like Onalaja, Tolu Coker amongst others weren’t just attending—they were curating. What’s wild is how democratized fashion storytelling has become.

Once upon a time, fashion week coverage was gatekept by editors in Paris or New York. Now, Africa isn’t waiting to be invited into the global fashion conversation; it’s hosting it. Our generation is proving that influence isn’t borrowed—it’s owned. With Ayra Starr and others leading the charge, African digital fashion influencers are no longer guests at the table; they’re curators, setting the vibe for everyone else.
